Exterior Paint
Architectural Standards & Criteria for Single-Family Homes,
Section 1:
“Bright colors (other than white) as the dominant color are prohibited. Exterior colors
that, in the opinion of the RMC, would be inharmonious, discordant, and/or incongruous shall not be permitted”.
Criteria applying to applications for exterior paint include:
- Exact samples of the proposed body, trim, and, (if applicable) front door color are required as part
of the application. Also, include the current exterior color of the body, trim, and front door of your home.
- Proposed color schemes must be in harmony with the rest of the neighborhood, homes
directly next door to each other should not be painted exactly alike. The exterior colors of the homes on either side of yours need to be included with your application.
- The lighter of the two shades submitted must be used on the garage doors.
- “Trim” is defined as the fascia siding, shutters, exterior window casings, and doors. Use of contrasting color for the sides of window casings,
chimneys, and architectural elements of the house is prohibited.
- In the event that the Committee cannot render a decision on the proposed color(s) based on the sample submitted, the
applicant may be required to paint a section of their home with the proposed color(s) for a site inspection.
